I am always very cautious when reading about any predictions via a Supercomputer, especially when they predict Chelsea to finish third in the Premier League this season!
But stranger things have happened…
Supercomputers use a lot of data, squads, new signings, managers, form, last season’s form, and much more to forecast each game of the season to then conclude a final league table for the end of the season.
As reported in The Sun this week, they have the latest set of end results for the Premier League, and they have Chelsea in third spot!
There are a few surprise shouts in this to be honest, one of which is Nottingham Forest being relegated over Leicester City.
I also think Bournemouth, Brentford, and Fulham will finish higher than that.
Surely Chelsea are not finishing ahead of Liverpool even though they lost to Forest at the weekend?
And surely Aston Villa are finishing higher than 10th, no!?
I mean, I think we would all be ecstatic with a third placed finish this season, right?
We polled it out recently on my own personal Chelsea website with the majority of us predicting a 6th place finish for Chelsea, three places below what the Supercomputer is predicting.
Personally, I never take much away from these Supercomputer predictions, but it might be worth revisiting this at the end of the season and comparing it to myself and Jai’s predictions we put out on the Podcast recently.
I just think this is such a tough league and no game is easy. We are going to have a battle on our hands every single week to take points, and going to Bournemouth on Saturday just proved that once again.
To get third would be a huge achievement under the circumstances in this very strong and difficult league.
