Pink goes well with green, and it’s even better in duplicate.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande completely embodied their respective Wicked characters, Elphaba and Galinda/Glinda, when it came to dressing for the Saturday, November 9, Los Angeles premiere of the movie musical.

Grande, 31, stunned in a custom tea-length, pink gingham Thom Browne dress with a matching shrug and hair tie. Of course, the gingham fabric is a subtle nod to Wizard of Oz and Dorothy’s famed blue dress. She accessorized her look with pearl earrings, silk gloves, and sparkly silver shoes.

For her part, Erivo, 37, made a stunning statement in a fitted, custom Louis Vuitton gown featuring a dramatic midsection cutout. The British star completed her ensemble with Suzanne Kalan jewelry, including a diamond choker centered with an emerald pendant.

The hit Broadway musical Wicked is being adapted into two films, and Cynthia Erivo loves that the movies expand upon the stage version. “What’s wonderful about the show is that you get an insight into why this woman becomes the Wicked Witch of the West, but you have only three hours to do it in,” […]

The pièce de résistance of Erivo and Grande’s red carpet appearance was that they were joined by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, who originated the bewitching roles on Broadway.

Menzel, 53, chose a black, one-shouldered gown with delicate EFFY jewelry, while Chenoweth, 56, glittered in a golden Pamella Roland minidress.

Wicked, adapted from Gregory Maguire’s novel, is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and tells the story of the Wicked Witch of the West and the Good Witch of the North before they were bitter rivals for the great and powerful wizard’s attention. The musical, and Jon M. Chu’s upcoming two-parter film, takes place when Elphaba and Galinda meet as roommates at Shiz University.

“The love story is really between the two girls. It’s about their bond,” Chenoweth exclusively told Us Weekly in May. “It didn’t start out that way, the show, so Idina and I feel really blessed that we were a part of something that we’re able to really put a stamp down in this world of musical theater.”

While the new movie will be a fresh take on the classic tale, some fans believe that Chenoweth and Menzel could make surprise cameos.

“[I] cannot confirm or deny,” Chenoweth quipped to Us last month. “I can do neither, but I can say that I know I speak for Idina and I both [when I say] … we’re both really happy for the girls. We can’t wait to see them take on these characters.”

Chenoweth, for her part, is especially close to Grande, who once saw the OG production of Wicked as a teenager.

Wicked Part 1 hits theaters on November 22.
