Music Rewind 2024: Billie Eilish Hit Us Hard!

2024 was Billie Eilish’s year. She dropped a new album, went on tour, collaborated with our favorite artists, and gave fans dozens of memorable moments throughout the year. She started off the year at the Oscars in March, teasing a new album but wouldn’t reveal its name or the release date. She left holding her second Oscar high and proud and the knowledge that she was about to enter her most influential and important musical year yet. She’ll wrap up the year and begin the new year at the 2025 GRAMMYs…but before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s rewind the clock and take a look at everything Billie accomplished this year!

HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: The Tour And The Album

April 10, 2024, had the entire world in a frenzy. Billie posted to her Instagram the very first teaser of what would become HIT ME HARD AND SOFT. Quickly after, she dropped the full album tracklist, including 10 new songs: ‘SKINNY,’ ‘LUNCH,’ ‘CHIHIRO,’ ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER,’ ‘WILDFLOWER,’ ‘THE GREATEST,’ ‘L’AMOUR DE MA VIE,’ ‘THE DINER,’ ‘BITTERSUITE,’ and ‘BLUE.’ Now all fans had to do was wait for the release date, May 17, 2024, and start speculating about everything that was to come.

The week of May 17 came, and fans from across the world put their headphones on to stream the new album. They cried to the vulnerable lyrics in ‘SKINNY’ and danced to the intoxicating electronic beats in ‘L’AMOUR DE MA VIE.’ Fans also flocked to Los Angeles, California, and Brooklyn, New York, to hear the album for the first time in an arena with Billie herself. We have to admit, these listening parties will go down in history! We wish we could have attended one (or both)!

Now that the world had HIT ME HARD AND SOFT in their hands, it was time to start memorizing every lyric, because soon they would be hearing it live. Billie announced that she was headed on tour across the U.S. with Towa Bird, besties Nat & Alex Wolff, and The Marias by her side. We instantly bought pit tickets to as many shows as we could!

Thus far, the tour has been a success, and the hive had an amazing time at the show! You can find the entire setlist here, but we won’t spoil anything else about the live show here. You’ll just have to attend yourself…

Unexpected Collaborations

Although Billie has said in the past that she’s not super keen on collaborating with other artists, 2024 proved to be a big year for unexpected musical collaborations! After Charli xcx dominated the summer with brat, she teased a remix of ‘Guess’ with none other than Billie. Fans went crazy. No Billie fan could have seen this coming, but we were excited to hear the remix nonetheless! To say it was a hit would be an understatement. New and OG fans fell in love with the sensual dance remix (and the amazing music video), and it soon appeared on the HIT ME HARD AND SOFT: THE TOUR setlist, making fans fall to their knees.

Another unexpected collaboration was with our boys Nat & Alex Wolff! ‘Soft Kissing Hour’ made its appearance in November with backing vocals from Billie. Awards And Nominations

Billie tends to sweep every single award show she attends, and 2024 was no different. We could list every award she won this year, but then this list would be 10 pages long, and we don’t want to keep you here forever. Some award highlights this year include:

Even though the Barbie movie came out in July of 2023, the hype around WWIMF didn’t die down, and the song continued to be beloved by listeners throughout the world into 2024. Billie and FINNEAS were celebrated for the song’s success all year, and we were right there cheering them on!

Interviews And Music Videos

There is no shortage of iconic Billie Eilish music videos. This year Billie delivered on the visuals for a handful of new songs from HMHAS. After much debate, our favorite music video released this year was ‘CHIHIRO.’ For the entire five minutes, we were kept on our toes wondering what was going on between Billie and Nat Wolff’s characters. Were they fighting? Or were they in love? All we know is that we were obsessed and watched it about 100 times the day it came out!

Also released this year were the music videos for ‘LUNCH,’ ‘BIRDS OF A FEATHER,’ and ‘Guess.’ Which one did you love the best? Looking to 2025, we hope Billie gives us a few more visuals, especially for ‘BITTERSUITE’ and ‘BLUE.’

Just as much as we love a Billie Eilish-directed music video, we love her interviews! This year we were fed, to say the least. Billie jet-setted around the world and hit up cities like Tokyo, Mexico City, Paris, Berlin, and more to promote the new album and meet international fans along the way. But of course, coming at number one is Billie’s first Chicken Shop Date with Amelia! Fans have been waiting and waiting…and waiting for this interview, so shout out to Amelia for finally making it happen.

Memorable Moments & More

Throughout the year, Billie gave us some other memorable moments that we have to shout out. She graced the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, Vogue Magazine, Complex Magazine, and Interview Magazine (with an exclusive interview by Lana Del Rey)! We luckily got our hands on each of these issues and loved learning more about Billie and the process of making HMHAS through each of the special interviews. Maybe we can manifest a hive interview with Billie in 2025?

To cap the year off, she teased a new perfume with Eilish Fragrances, which has yet to be released (but we’re hoping for 2025), and dropped an entirely new shoe collection with Converse. Being able to design our very own Converse with design inspiration from Billie herself was such a special fan moment for us. We can’t wait to sport our new shoes on tour in the new year!

To no one’s surprise, we could yap about Billie all day. We just had to show our gratitude for our favorite singer, because of her, our 2024 was so much better and filled with incredible fan experiences we will never forget.
