2024 was an incredible year for album releases! From Taylor Swift and Sabrina Carpenter to Billie Eilish and ZAYN, it seems like everyone released a studio album throughout the year. But as 2024 comes to a close, what albums are we most looking forward to seeing released in the new year? Here are our top 5 most anticipated albums of 2025.
5) So Close to What, Tate McRae
The only confirmed 2025 release on this list is the upcoming third studio album from Canadian pop superstar Tate McRae, So Close to What. Tate has been the queen of TikTok-smashing singles and is one of the most entertaining live performers in the game right now, and based on the release of the first two singles from her upcoming project, she shows no signs of slowing down. ‘It’s ok I’m ok’ burst onto the scene late in the summer, and after weeks of teasing, ‘2 hands’ has taken over pop music with the same force. Tate also isn’t afraid to build her own hype: she’s already sold out her entire first arena tour, the Miss Possessive Tour, months before it hits the road – and even months before Tate’s album hits streaming on February 21st. Talk about a highly anticipated album in 2025! If So Close to What is anything like Tate’s sophomore album, THINK LATER, we’re bracing ourselves for a new pop smash to obsess over all year long.

4) Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift’s re-recording “passion project” has been a work in progress since she released Fearless (Taylor’s Version) in April of 2021, and 2025 is likely to be the year we see this project come to its bittersweet conclusion. Taylor has followed the pattern of two rerecords a year followed by a year spent promoting a new project (all while working on The Eras Tour) since starting rerecording her “stolen” albums. So based on that pattern, we should see both reputation (Taylor’s Version) and Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) in 2025. Speculation about reputation (Taylor’s Version) has been plastered online for over a year, but the dark horse that we’re excited for is the re-recorded version of Taylor’s debut album. Will she fake that country accent? Will fan favorites like ‘I Heart ?,’ ‘Dark Blue Tennessee,’ and ‘I’d Lie’ finally make it onto a standard album? 2025 is likely to be a big year for diehard Swifties.
3) reputation (Taylor’s Version), Taylor Swift
Speaking of, perhaps the upcoming release with the most hype on this list is reputation (Taylor’s Version). To put it bluntly, Swifties have been “clowning” for an announcement of this re-record for about the last year and a half. From Taylor wearing snake-inspired clothing out and about to potential hints hidden in surprise songs from The Eras Tour, fans have been waiting not-so-patiently to get their hands on this album. The original reputation from 2017 is Taylor’s only studio album that never got any kind of deluxe release or additional tracks, so the From the Vault tracks on reputation (Taylor’s Version) make this a high-demand release from Taylor in 2025.

2) Untitled 6th Studio Album, 5 Seconds of Summer
Can we just rename next year 2025SOS? After taking a break from band projects in 2024 to pursue solo albums, solo shows, fatherhood, married life, etc., 5 Seconds of Summer is bound to return in 2025 with their sixth studio album. Various members of the band have shared content from the studio and their various writing trips over the last few months, everywhere from Los Angeles to Nashville. Luke, Ashton, Michael, and Calum have been cooking up the follow-up to their sensational 5SOS5, released in 2022, and we can hardly contain our anticipation for what the band has in store for the new year!

1) Untitled 4th Studio Album, Harry Styles
Just about the only thing that could top the excitement of a new album from 5 Seconds of Summer is a new album from Mr. Harry Styles himself. Things have been pretty quiet for Harry fans since he wrapped up Love on Tour in Milan in 2023, so Harry’s return with his fourth studio album is bound to be one of the most significant pop culture events of 2025. Harry has been on track with releasing albums about every two and a half years, with his debut Harry Styles releasing in May 2017, his sophomore project Fine Line in December 2019, and his GRAMMY-winning Harry’s House in May 2022. Based on that timeline, Harry Styles should be taking the crown for the most anticipated album release of 2025.
