Yves had the biggest start as a soloist in 2024 with her debut mini-album, LOOP, followed by the masterpiece that was I Did. Two mini-albums were all she needed to go on the road and show her artistry to as many people as possible in her world tour APPLE CINNAMON CRUNCH Tour. Her tour kicked off in Europe at the end of 2024. And Yves has now begun the second leg of her world tour in North America. Along with covering new songs, Yves also added two brand new songs to her setlist in Montreal. And now, we have them as deluxe tracks for I Did, and they’re some of her best songs!
The New Tracks
As a first comeback, I Did established Yves’ individuality and artistry in the most beautiful way with songs such as ‘Viola’ and ‘Gone Girl.’ She explored a unique sound and affirmed herself as one of the leading artists of this new generation of K-Pop. In her first mini-album, she had also explored some pop-rock and grunge vibes with ‘Afterglow.’ But it wasn’t a sound we found in I Did, until that all changed. Even with a different style, the songs connect perfectly to the independence and individuality Yves affirmed in I Did. The same indie rock influence is all over both ‘BIRD’ and ‘See you in hell,’ and she does it like no one else.
‘BIRD’
‘BIRD’ feels like freedom. With a simple guitar at the beginning and a beautiful build-up, Yves sings about surviving the end of a relationship. It’s hopeful, emotional, vulnerable, but most importantly, powerful. ‘BIRD’ is about choosing yourself and shining by yourself – and Yves has done that since day one if you ask us.
‘See You In Hell’
‘See you in hell’ is a more personal and intimate song. Yves sings about the falling out of a relationship once again, but the take is different. Even with its softer start, ‘See you in hell’ is full of resentment and anger. Yves mixes her sweet tone with her powerful belt in the most gorgeous way, exploring the complex feelings behind the song. The melody is beautiful and addictive, and, like many genres Yves touches, she created pop-rock perfection.
With only two tracks, Yves pushed her sound further, making her perfect mini-album I Did even better. These tracks are further proof that Yves continues to push boundaries. She explores her artistry in the most interesting and alluring way. And she’s an artist everyone should keep their eye on.
