Trevoh Chalobah returned straight back in to Chelsea’s starting lineup last night after being recalled early from his season-long loan deal with Crystal Palace.

Just six months before, Chalobah was being physically forced out of his childhood club by the sporting directors who froze him out, took him out of training, refused to take him on the pre-season tour of America, and took away his beloved squad number that had sentimental value to him.

The reason? Well, apparently he didn’t suit Enzo Maresca’s football, something that was reported by all of your most reliable outlets who get their info from the club.

Fast-forward six months, Maresca is picking Chalobah in his first game back for Chelsea against Wolves in the Premier League. Oh right, OK. So maybe, just maybe Maresca has always rated Chalobah and perhaps he does suit his style of football? So why did they report that it didn’t? PSR I guess. Home grown player. They wanted to sell him for profit to balance the books. They failed to sell him too mind. But maybe that is what happened here because clearly it was NOT a Maresca decision.

Or maybe Chalobah is just a miracle worker and maybe he went from not being good enough to play Maresca’s football to being more than good enough to play it in just six months? Imagine that?

Chalobah was rightfully named man of the match last night for his colossal defensive performance in our 3-1 win over Wolves. He was class. He was everywhere and to be honest, I don’t think I’ve seen a better overall centre back performance from any Chelsea player all season so far.

I think he showed in just one game that he has elevated our centre back options already. Other then Levi Colwill, Chalobah is probably Chelsea’s best centre back, with debates about Wesley Fofana to come in there too. So it just begs the question even more, why on earth were they not planning around Chalobah and keeping him in the team in the summer, instead of doing all they could to push out a player who LOVES this club and was patting his badge yet again last night at the full time whistle?

It’s a complete embarrassment.

Trev, welcome back, it’s incredible to have you back at the club you love. I completely admire your mentality to come back in and prove these sporting directors wrong. Keep that going!
