Madison Beer’s debut album, Life Support, is an absolutely stunning record that still gives us so much support when we’re pushing through the hard times in our lives. She poured so much of herself and her life experiences into this album and it never fails to make us shed a few tears along the way! It was truly the beginning of an awe-inspiring new chapter for her personal and artistic growth, which has paved the way to so much success over the years. Join us as we celebrate Life Support by breaking down some of our favorite lyrics

“I would take a bullet for you just to prove my love, only to find out you are the one holding the gun…”

After a gorgeous vocal intro, the Life Support album kicks off with a bang thanks to ‘Good In Goodbye!’ And as much as we love the smart spelling lyrics in the chorus, we’ll be highlighting a standout line from the second verse. You can give your all to someone just for them to hurt you in the end, and Madison captures that devastating feeling so beautifully. The reveal at the end surprises you like it would surprise you to realize your once-loving partner is bringing you that much pain.

A little added note for the emo Madison fans out there: doesn’t this line remind you of Fall Out Boy’s “the person that you’d take a bullet for is behind the trigger” lyric from ‘Miss Missing You?’ Excuse us while we daydream about a collab…

“We were like a California sunset, fated to die any minute…”

This line from ‘Blue’ has always been so incredible to us, and not just because of the strong vocals Madison delivers here! Sunsets can absolutely take your breath away for a little while, but the colors inevitably fade as the sun moves further down – notice that clever wordplay as well between “fated” and “faded.” We think the darkness that comes after sunset could also serve as a mirror for the darkness and sadness Madison felt after this once-sunny relationship went down.

“Everything looks perfect when you’re far away…”

Throughout ‘Homesick,’ Madison reflects on feeling like she doesn’t belong on Earth and her struggles with fitting in. We love this line because it can fit into so many different situations she describes on the song and the Life Support album as a whole. You could take it as a commentary on fame, our not-so-dear society, or human emotion… or even as Madison realizing that she could still feel left out or alone if she lived in outer space instead. The grass isn’t always greener, and even the people you compare yourself to or wish to be aren’t as perfect as they seem!

“Everything ‘round me is starting to fade into black, but black and white is so much better, I’m learning how to hide my colors, you should’ve been a little more gentle with me…”

There are a lot of lyrics on ‘Stained Glass’ that emotionally shatter us, but these lines might just take the cake for some of the saddest on the Life Support album. ‘Stained Glass’ explores what it’s been like for Madison to be a constant magnet for cruel words throughout her career. She lands on this conclusion in the second verse, choosing to dim herself down to avoid more hate from coming her way. You could even argue that the “black and white is so much better” bit is Madison trying to convince herself that she’s better off hiding her true self, knowing deep down that it might just hurt her more in the long run.

“What in the world did I do to deserve such a pain in my heart?”

We’ve highlighted some pretty clever, deeper lyrics throughout this article, so for our last fave line, we’re choosing this one from ‘Everything Happens For A Reason.’ The simplicity breaks our hearts every time and really showcases the core sadness Madison is feeling. She doesn’t have it in herself to dress up the pain anymore, plainly begging to understand what she could’ve possibly done to bring this type of hurt into her life. Madison, we wanna give you the biggest hug and tell you all about the light and joy you’ve brought into our hearts!
