At The Honey POP, we’re always excited to introduce you to the next big thing, and trust us—Allie Sherlock is one you won’t want to miss. The Irish pop sensation has been making waves for years, from her viral busking performances to her unforgettable Ellen debut, and now she’s back with her bold new track, ‘Ex-Friend.’

Allie’s building a massive following with her raw, emotional music, and she’s quickly becoming one of pop’s most exciting new voices. We were lucky enough to sit down with Allie to talk about her journey, the inspiration behind her latest single, and what’s next as she continues to take over the music world.

From busking ‘How Love Works’ on street corners to performing it on The Late Late Show, that’s quite the full-circle moment. How did it feel to see that journey come to life?
It was amazing to play ‘How Love Works’ on The Late Late Show because I’m always so critical and nervous about performing my own music. So when they asked me to play my song, it felt incredible. And the reaction was amazing!

Your cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Supermarket Flowers’ went viral, and for good reason! If you could have anyone cover ‘ex-Friend,’ who would you choose and why?
If I could have anyone cover ‘Ex-Friend,’ I think it would be Benson Boone because, first, he’s amazing, and second, he makes every cover his own. I think he would do a great version.

It’s well established that a “friendship break up” can be a worse feeling than a “relationship break up.” Do you think one situation is worse than the other, or is it just a different type of hurt? Do you have any advice for fans experiencing something like that?
I think a friendship breakup can definitely be harder than a relationship breakup. With a best friend, you tell them everything, and when that’s gone, it can feel like a part of you is missing.

You went viral on Ellen when you were just 12 years old. How did gaining so much attention at such a young age impact your career or your artistry? Is there any advice you’d give your 12-year-old self?
Going on The Ellen Show at just 12 years old was an unforgettable experience. I was probably the most nervous I’ve ever been. I usually don’t get nervous, but this was insane for me because I watched Ellen every single day. If I could give my 12-year-old self advice, it would be: “You’ve already won just by being yourself. Go out there and enjoy being on your favorite show.”

We always love to hear who our faves are listening to these days. Any new artists you’ve been loving in 2025 so far?
My favorite artists of 2025 so far have been Sabrina Carpenter, Fleetwood Mac, FINNEAS, and Rihanna.

Your self-titled album, ALLIE, debuted in 2023. How does this body of work encapsulate you as an artist and as a person?
The ALLIE album felt like the most me. Every song was something I truly resonated with and related to.

It would be remiss of us at The Honey POP not to ask, but is there an interpretation of Sherlock Holmes (such as Enola Holmes and Moriarty the Patriot) you enjoy? Or is the surname a coincidence?
Enola Holmes was one of my favorite shows when it came out. I loved when her brother appeared, and his name was Sherlock. I always said that if I ever started a business related to homes, I would name it Sherlock Homes—or Sherlock Holmes!

What was the inspiration behind the music video for ‘Ex-Friend?’
I wanted to make a music video in a beautiful place, so I filmed it in the mountains of Tenerife. I wanted to visually capture how the song makes me feel. ‘Ex-Friend’ gives me summer vibes, and I think the music video reflects that.

Your tour is associated with Safer Spaces, a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of violence, harassment, discrimination & abuse. What’s it like working with them?
Working with Safer Spaces on my tour has been incredible. They’re truly the best, and their mission is so important. Concerts should be a place of joy, but unfortunately, incidents happen far too often. I’ve played in places where men have been inappropriate to me, and it made me realize just how crucial it is to create a safer environment for everyone. I wanted to make sure my shows were different—a space where everyone feels safe and included. As a woman, it’s especially important to me that girls, boys, and everyone in between can enjoy the music without worry.

Your music can easily be summarized as “pop perfection” but it also contains elements of other genres within it. If you could make an album in a genre other than pop, what genre would you pick and why?
I love so many different genres that picking just one would be really difficult. But if I had to choose something other than pop, I think I’d go with R&B—Rihanna ‘Love on the Brain’ vibes.

‘How Love Works’ has resonated so deeply with so many people. Is there a specific lyric in the track that you can point to as one that you think really grips people? Or that really grips you?
The lyrics in ‘How Love Works’ are so me. But the line “They call me the queen of catching feelings” is especially true—I’m such a sucker for love!

You’ve released a new single and announced dates for headline shows this spring – which we are SO excited for! Is there anything else we can expect in the near future?
Announcing my last two singles, and my tour has been so exciting! There’s going to be a lot more touring and new music in the future, and I can’t wait.
