In a historic announcement underscoring President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to the health of American families, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), under his leadership, has declared that it will ban the use of artificial, petroleum-based food dyes by the end of 2026.

At the press conference, FDA Commissioner Dr. Makary stated clearly: “This administration is not interested in doing the same old things while we watch our children get sicker.” He referred to a long list of scientific studies that raise increasing concerns about the negative effects of dyes like Red 40 and Yellow 5 on children’s health. These include studies linking these chemicals to ADHD, obesity, metabolic disorders, and even cancer. “For decades, we’ve allowed our children to live in a toxic soup of synthetic products,” Makary declared.

This bold shift in public health policy is yet another example of President Trump’s direct and disruptive approach: doing what others were too afraid to do. While past administrations—both Democrat and Republican—ignored or delayed decisions that might upset the food industry, Trump and his team are putting the health of America’s children above corporate interests.

Importantly, this is not a case of big government overreach like we often see from Democrats. This is a responsible, evidence-based action that respects free enterprise while drawing a clear line when it comes to protecting the vulnerable. The FDA will work hand-in-hand with businesses to ensure a smooth transition, giving them time to reformulate products without hurting consumers’ wallets.

Just as President Trump has fought to secure our borders to protect American citizens, he is now acting to secure our food supply from toxins entering our homes.

Unlike relying on international markets or waiting for Europe to lead the way, this decision shows Trump’s firm leadership. He isn’t waiting for other countries to tell us what’s best for our people. Once again, Trump is making it clear: “America First—also in health.”
