Grace VanderWaal is on the rise, and we’re taking a seat in the front row. Her latest album, CHILDSTAR, completely blew us away, and we’ve been streaming it nonstop since it dropped earlier this month. The album features nine tracks, ‘Proud,’ ‘Brand New,’ ‘Homesick,’ ‘What’s Left Of Me,’ ‘Call It What You Want,’ ‘Babydoll (feat. Aliyah’s Interlude),’ ‘Beg For It,’ ‘Behavioral Problems,’ and ‘Fade.’ Each of these tracks invites listeners into a new Grace VanderWaal that we’ve yet to meet up until this point. Throughout the 25-minute album, we hear Grace sing about her relationship with growing up and being in the spotlight as a child star.
Here are our favorite tracks from Grace’s newest album, CHILDSTAR.
‘Behavioral Problems’
Hearing a punk track from Grace was not in our 2025 bingo card, but we’re totally here for it. ‘Behavioral Problems’ opens with Grace whispering and slowly starting to yell at the listener. She’s urging us to give up the good girl pop-star rhetoric and start seeing past the behavioral teenager that was once shoved into the media’s face. It’s giving Miley Cyrus’ ‘Can’t Be Tamed’ 2.0. This is definitely a track we want to see a music video for. Grace, if you’re reading this, give the honeybees what they want!
If they played this song in the club, we wouldn’t be mad at all.

I do it right, and it still goes to waste

A flame that you can’t contain”
‘What’s Left Of Me’
We can’t deny that this is our favorite song on CHILDSTAR. With every word, you can hear Grace’s passion for music and her craft. Her vocals come through beautifully on ‘What’s Left Of Me,’ and we applaud Grace for this song! We’re hoping to hear more of this sound in Grace’s future projects.
“But I feel you watch me while I sleep
The grease in my hair, the rot in my teeth
There’s blood on your hands, I’m sorry I bleed
What’s left of me?”
‘Beg For It’
This song was not what we were expecting, but in the best way possible. Throughout this album, we loved how Grace was experimenting with different sounds, and ‘Beg For It’ fits her new style so well. On ‘Beg For It,’ Grace is singing about the need to be adored and to be loved so hard by someone that they’re begging for every moment. We’re getting a little bit of sultry Grace on this track, and we loved every moment!
“Would you make me feel like I’ve been fucking irresistible?
Don’t you hesitate when I tell you exactly what I want?
I could really take you there, but how far would you really go?
Would you beg for it? Would you beg for it?”
