Katherine Renee Kane’s Tiffany “Tiff” Wallace had a jam packed “last day of school” during the FBI season 7 premiere.
Right out the gate on the Tuesday, October 15, episode, viewers learned that Tiff had given her notice to the FBI after the ups and downs of losing Agent Trevor Hobbs (Roshawn Franklin) during an undercover mission in season 6.
While Tiff took down Hobbs’ killer, a terrorist named Hakim Siran (Antwayn Hopper), during the May finale, her character didn’t get her own closure. “It makes sense to need some time off” Tiff’s partner, Stuart Scola (John Boyd), told her during Tuesday’s episode, noting her break doesn’t “have to be permanent.”
Tiff was not swayed to stay, noting, “There’s nothing more dangerous than having a partner who didn’t want to be in the field anymore, but stuck around anyway.”
Before Tiff could leave the FBI for good, she showed up for one more day of work helping the rest of their team investigate a truck bombing. While chasing a pair of gunmen through Penn Station, Scola was stabbed.
Luckily, Tiff was able to create a tourniquet with her belt to stop the bleeding and save his leg. “To think, I was gonna call in sick today,” she joked after he was out of harm’s way.
Once the case was solved, Tiff further explained her decision to leave the bureau, telling coworker Maggie Bell (Missy Peregrym) that “it wasn’t any one thing” that swayed her.
“I just wanted closure. I thought I’d get that after Hakim was gone; I didn’t,” Tiff added, revealing that she was moving to Georgia after her last shift to live near her sister.
CBS wrote off Tiff two months after news broke that Kane, 32, was exiting the series during season 7. The actress joined the cast in 2020 during season 3 after Ebonee Noel, who played Kristen Chazal, left the show at the end of season 2.
Kane confirmed her departure in August, telling Deadline in a statement that it was “time to look towards new creative endeavors.” She added, “I’m excited for the future and wish the show all the best.”
Prior to her exit, Kane exclusively told Us Weekly that she was looking forward to expanding her character come season 7.
“I think what she needs and what I want to see is for her to soften up. For her to have more ease in her life,” she said in May. “I think the way that she is driven and passionate about her work is great, and I think it’s why people love her. But I absolutely want to explore more colors of who she is as a woman.”
Kane also told Us that after seeing FBI: Most Wanted’s Ray (Edwin Hodge) and Cora (Caroline Harris) get married during the season 5 finale in May she was hopeful the same would happen on FBI.
“I would absolutely love to have a wedding on that show,” Kane said in May, noting that she is rooting for Scola and FBI: Most Wanted’s Nina Chase (Shantel VanSanten) are next to get hitched in the FBI universe.
FBI airs on CBS Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
