It’s not every day we at THP read an adult romance that has us giggling uncontrollably! But when we do, it’s a book we’ll hold onto dearly. That’s how we feel about Natalie Caña’s new book, Sleeping with the Frenemy!
Sleeping with the Frenemy is the third book in Natalie Caña’s Vega Family Love Stories series! It follows the fourth youngest Vega sibling, Leo, and his push-pull relationship with his sister Kamilah’s best friend, Sofia “Sofi” Santana.
A steamy romance paired with all the emotions and a big family makes Sleeping with the Frenemy a book you’d want to finish in less than 24 hours. (Which is what we did.) Here are all the things we love about Sleeping with the Frenemy!
Book Overview: Sleeping With The Frenemy
Content Warnings: mention of family members’ deaths, parental abandonment, mention of cheating
Summary: Leo Vega’s love life has been on life support since long before the gunshot wound that put him on leave from the fire department. Now, a year after his injury, he’s hoping to both return to work and fix things with Sofi, the woman he’s had a secret on-again, off-again relationship with for years.
Sofia Santana may be ready to mend fences with her best friend, Leo’s sister, but she has no plans of letting Leo back into her bed or her heart. She’s charting a new path for her future, and past mistakes have no place in it. Then circumstances push Sofi and Leo into a tense roommate situation. It’s almost impossible to move on when Leo is there, reminding her what they had, every day.
With the help of Leo’s mischievous grandfather, Sofi’s equally devious grandmother and an adorably sweet rescue dog, Leo’s determined to get the stubborn woman of his dreams to finally see that they belong together—for good this time.
The Familial Love
Call us sentimental, but the Santana and Vega families in Sleeping with the Frenemy are life goals! Sofi grew up alongside Kamilah and her family, so of course, the Vegas see her as one of their own. Everyone can tease and joke around with each other, even the grandparents. We especially loved reading Sofi’s interactions with her mom and abuela. They understand one another so well, and their love definitely made it off the pages and into our own hearts.
So Much Juicy Drama
When planning a wedding, everyone has to prepare for the drama that ensues. Sleeping with the Frenemy wouldn’t be complete without all the meddling and dramatics. Leo’s abuelo, Papo Vega, can always be found at the scene of the crime. But even Sofi’s abuela Fina joins the fray, helping Leo win back Sofi’s heart. Then there’s the big secret where Sofi never told Kamilah about her on-again, off-again relationship with Leo. Surely, this wouldn’t be enough to ruin the wedding, would it?
Of Course, The Romance
Finally, we must highlight the romance between Leo and Sofi in Sleeping with the Frenemy. After over a year of not seeing each other, you’d think their relationship would be done for good. But the tension and lingering feelings say otherwise. Leo and Sofi go together so well, and there’s no denying how much chemistry they have in the dialogue (and in bed). We’re suckers for grand romantic gestures too, but you’ll have to read to the end to find out what it is!
