March Madness provides an incredible opportunity for basketball coaches to learn from some of the best in the business. FastDraw can help!
We all know coaches share (and steal) plays from each other, it’s a natural part of the game. So what better chance to do so than in the month of March? With over a hundred high quality games this month during the men’s and women’s NCAA and NIT tournaments, coaches at home better be locked in and ready to consume these games for professional development purposes.
Another thing we all know in the coaching industry: If you aren’t growing, then you’re cheating yourself!
Make the most of March Madness by focusing on your personal development with the help of FastModel Sports products and coaching resources. We call it #FastModelMadness!
March is the best time to make the commitment to yourself and your program with our trusted coaching tools! (Seriously, 54/68 men’s and 45/68 women’s NCAA tournament teams are FMS clients).
We’re offering new subscribers the opportunity to use the same programs that these tournament teams do to prepare for the most important games of the season: the powerful duo of FastDraw & FastScout! Enter the code MADNESS20 at checkout.
1. The most obvious tip, of course, is to watch games with FastDraw open on your desktop or iPad.
Don’t have FastDraw? Get it now! Take advantage of our user-friendly play diagramming program and sketch up sets in no time. Set up a second screen if possible for multi-game watching, and get comfortable with your remote control for quick rewinding! When you finish a play, use the FastTrade feature to share it with your coaching staff or colleagues in your network.
Still not convinced? Here’s contributor Tony Miller on why he loves FastDraw on his iPad.
2. Download your printable blank diagram sheets (made with FastDraw) to sketch up sets in a hurry.
Of course, we’d love for everyone to be doing their diagramming directly in FastDraw. But we know it’s sometimes faster to diagram a set on paper first. You can always add to FastDraw later when you have the time.
So we created a printable blank diagram sheet with various formations (half court, full court, BLOB and SLOB) for coaches to download, print and utilize during the NCAA Tournaments, and beyond.
3. Visit the PlayBank daily throughout March Madness for free pre-drawn plays.
Our team of amazing coach contributors will be posting the most effective sets from every team in the tournament. Check out this hub page highlighting our favorites from each round. FastDraw users can download these plays directly to their library to keep as is, or customize to fit their style of play or personnel. There are also options to email, print, download, save and/or export plays as PDF (see below and click here for guide).
4. Follow @FastModel on Twitter.
Engage with us and the coaching community by commenting, retweeting and sharing the best content from the tournament using the hashtag #FastModelMadness24. This medium provides a great discussion forum for chalk talk among the coaching community.
Pro tip: Follow your favorite contributors on Twitter as they share tourney insights along with XsOs.
5. Sign up for the FMS Newsletter.
We’ll be sending out frequent emails with XsOs, video breakdowns, blog posts, free playbooks and more directly to your inbox throughout the tournaments.
Pro tip: Check your spam and mark our address (messages@fastmodelsports.com) as “not spam” to make sure you don’t miss any of these content-loaded emails. In Gmail you can also drag the email from your Promotions folder into your Inbox folder so they arrive there in the future.
6. Subscribe to the FMS YouTube channel.
Between our Top Plays and Drills of 2020 slideshows, FastDraw Chalk Talk series, and more upcoming videos, there will be plenty of hoops and coaching content for you to consume this month.
7. Swing by this blog for in-depth content.
This will be the place for more detailed recaps, upset XsOs, video playbooks and other breakdowns of all the tournament action.
Pro tip: Add it to your bookmarks bar for easy access.
Most of all, enjoy the March Madness!
Of course we’re biased, but it’s hard to argue that March isn’t the best sports month of the year. While it’s important for coaches to learn and grow, make sure you have fun as well. Remember the reason we all fell in love the with game in he first place — from shooting hoops in the driveway, to the excitement of watching your team compete in the big dance. Make this month your one shining moment.
We look forward to engaging with all of the fantastic coaches in our community this month and growing the game of basketball together!
