West Indies big hitter, Kieron Pollard reminded the world of his six hitting ability as he hammered Rashid Khan for five consecutive sixes during the Trent Rockets vs Southern Brave encounter in The Hundred Mens Competition 2024 on Saturday.
Rashid Khan is counted among the best spinners in world cricket, right now. Not a lot of batters have the ability to dominate the Afghanistan spinner. However, Kieron Pollard left everyone in awe with his ruthless striking.
Before the spectacle began, the Trent Rockets needed 49 runs off 20 deliveries. Pollard, who was struggling till then, decided to take on Rashid Khan and plundered him for five consecutive sixes.
Rashid bowled the first one short, to which Pollard rocked back and hammered him for a six over deep midwicket. The Afghanistan then went for a fuller delivery and Pollard sent it over long-off for another maximum.
The crowd went ballistic when the third delivery also went for a maximum. Once again, it was a fuller delivery and Pollard gave the same treatment. On the fourth delivery, Rashid bowled it flatter on a good length. Pollard picked it early and hit it flat over deep mid-wicket for a fourth maximum.
Rashid Khan, who looked in complete disarray, bowled the fifth delivery right in the slot. Pollard smashed that one over long off for a fifth consecutive six. In just five balls, the West Indies batter turned the game around completely.
Here’s the video of Pollard’s destructive hitting against Rashid Khan:
Unfortunately, Kieron Pollard was run-out after playing a stellar knock of 45 off just 23 balls. But, Southern Brave still managed to chase down the score in 99 balls with two wickets in hand. With that, Southern Brave picked up their fifth win in seven matches. They are sitting at second on the table, only behind Oval Invincibles.
On the other hand, the Trent Rockets find themselves at fourth spot with three wins in six games.
